“Songs, and Prayerful Gathering for Hope and Healing” at Brith Shalom

During these challenging times, music can bring us together and offer comfort

Congregation Brith Shalom invites the community for an evening of music and meditation on April 27 at 8 PM.
Through music and song, we will pray for wholeness and healing, and celebrate our shared humanity. Song sheets will be provided, and the community is invited to participate.  The evening will conclude with a short Havdalah service.

“We will raise our voices together as if our song, and our prayer will help bring light to the lives of those in darkness,” says Janice Rubin, the creator of the evening’s program. Rubin serves as a spiritual director, davening leader, Jewish educator, hospice chaplain, facilitator of ritual, and performer of Yiddish and international folk music.

The evening will feature music by Janice Rubin, Jessalyn Levine, Jaimie Blackman, and others.

Jessalynn Levine is a professional choral conductor, singer, and educator, serving for over 10 years as high holiday cantorial soloist, and music director at Temple Sinai in Houston. Levine received her Master of Music from San José State University and currently teaches junior high and high school choir in Santa Cruz County, California.

Jaimie Blackman has four decades of practicing mindfulness/meditation, music making, and education.  An adjunct Music Professor with Lone Star College in Conroe Texas, Blackman received his Master of Science in music education from Aaron Copeland School of Music, Queens College, CUNY.

The program in sponsored by Veronica and Mark Jason in memory of Mario Jason.
